An 18 wheeler trucking accident investigation is always necessary to ensure that you have your facts straight, and that you build a strong case against all of the potential people who caused your injuries. This can include the truck driver, the owner of the tractor, the company leasing the tractor, the owner of the trailer, the person who loaded the trailer, the company that manufactured your tires, or any person or organization whose actions or products resulted in the accident.
What makes it even more crucial for you to pursue your own 18 wheeler trucking accident investigation is that the trucking company and other players in the accident will almost certainly be conducting one of their own. Should the case go to trial, not only will they have all the evidence they need to defend themselves, they may even be covering up other evidence as they go.
There are recorded cases where companies have legally obtained evidence and destroyed it so that the victim could not use it against them. For example someone can easily go to the wrecking yard and buy the remains of your car, which may contain crucial clues that would lead to a verdict in your favor. In this case, a temporary restraining order would protect key pieces of evidence like this.

The truck that Volvo is now demonstrating in Paris, for the first time ever, is equipped with a range of sophisticated technical solutions that alert the driver of hazards and help him or her to avoid accidents. This concept truck is the result of a joint research and development operation within the EU Commission’s sixth framework programme, bringing together Prevent, AIDE and GST. It has been financed partly through the European Union.
Prevent and its sub-projects aim for the development of new technology that enhances traffic safety. Volvo has now installed many of these next-generation systems in one and the same truck.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Sources close to the production of the three films in The Fast & The Furious series have told Inside Line that a fourth installment is on its way. The best guess is that it will show up in theaters worldwide during the summer of 2008.
The project is currently classified merely as “in development” at Universal, with no clear production start date and no announced director. However, it’s rumored that the next film will reunite many characters and actors from the first three including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson and Lucas Black. Obviously the story will once again center around automotive mayhem of the most intense sort, but the rumor is that this time most of the action will be set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
As to the cars, expectations are that some familiar machinery — like a resurrected version of the blown 1970 Dodge Charger from the original film — will mix it up with such contemporary machinery as the new Dodge Challenger and classic South American muscle like the Chevrolet Opala. Also don’t be surprised if Vin Diesel’s character finds his way behind the wheel of a classic 1987 Buick GNX.

Lotus Cars Australia decided that it would be a good idea to offer a market-exclusive version of the Exige for Aussie track-day fiends who don’t necessarily want to skimp on the niceties. So they did it, and the result is the Exige Sport 240. That’s 240 as in horsepower (20 more than a regular Exige S), which this Oz-tastic Lotus belts out from its blown 1.8L four with assistance from a new ECU and new injectors.
The Sport 240 also gets fully user-adjustable traction control from Lotus Sport. A dial in the cabin allows the driver to chose from eighteen different traction control intervention settings, allowing it to be optimized for nearly any road condition. Bigger brakes and an adjustable suspension also weigh into the overall dynamic upgrades.
Intended to be both a daily driver and a trackday weapon (and here we thought the Exige S already fit that bill), the interior is treated to the Touring Plus pack’s A/C and additional sound insulation, plus black leather seats with orange stitching and the requisite special edition badging. There will be 6 cars in the initial run of Exige Sport 240s, finished in either black with orange accents or orange with black accents. Lotus claims a 0-100km/h (62 mph) time of 4.2 seconds, a 0-160 km/h (roughly 100 mph) run of 9.9 seconds, and a top end of 154 mph. How fast it circles a road course depends on the skill of the driver, of course, but finding out sounds like a helluva fun endeavor. You can read the full Lotus PR after the jump.

For a slightly more sinister look, the Cayman S Edition 1 receives 10mm lowered suspension, 5 mm wheel spacers with 19-inch wheels from the 911 Turbo. And as a last touch of exclusivity, don’t forget the Porsche Design Edition 1 decals on the hood and doors as well as name plate on the glove box identifying the limited edition production number.

Ford announced today that the littlest of Land Rovers, the LR2, is getting a new derivative called the LR2 HSE. Available from November 1st, the LR2 HSE appears to offer largely cosmetic changes to a customer hoping to look that much more wealthy than the guy in the Equinox next to him. Based on the LR2 SE, the HSE adds body color bumpers and side sills for the coherent look that’s so the rage these days, as well as a rear spoiler, titanium door handles and meaty 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The interior gets 8×6-way power seats and a new storage box with a sliding cover. Other than that, the LR2 HSE comes with the same 3.2L inline-six producing 230 hp and a deliberate trip to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds. Pricing was not released, but expect to pay a bit extra for your pomp.

PRESS RELEASE:
LAND ROVER LAUNCHES THE 2008 LR2 HSE
Irvine, Calif, August 23, 2007 – Since its introduction in April 2007 the all-new Land Rover LR2 has enjoyed strong sales and to reinforce its line-up in the U.S., Land Rover North America today announced the introduction of a new and enhanced derivative – the LR2 HSE
This new version has a sportier stance than the LR2 SE due to body color bumpers and side sills, a rear spoiler, titanium door handles and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Changes to the interior see 8×6-way power adjustable seats and a storage box with a sliding cover.
“The LR2 reflects Land Rover’s dynamic design, with a smart and spacious interior and an abundance of advanced technologies. It has been very well received around the world since its introduction,” said Phil Popham, Land Rover’s Managing Director. “The HSE version offers subtle changes for those customers seeking a slightly different look to their LR2.”
All of the technical highlights of the LR2 SE are carried over into to the HSE model. These include a 3.2-liter inline-six engine that develops 230 bhp and provides 0-60 mph acceleration in 8.4 seconds (0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds).
The engine is matched to a new six-speed automatic transmission, with Land Rover’s CommandShift™ offering manual sequential gear changes when required. There is also a driver-selectable sport mode for even more responsive performance.
The LR2 HSE is packed with technologies to improve both on-road and off-road performance. Land Rover’s unique Terrain Response™ system is standard, making off-road use easier. Other advanced technologies include a new permanent intelligent all-wheel-drive system for superior traction and better on-road fuel economy. The patented Gradient Release Control works in conjunction with Hill Descent Control to improve driver confidence and control when releasing the brakes on steep and slippery slopes.
The LR2 HSE will be available November 1, 2007 at Land Rover retailers nationwide.

Wahington DC August 23, 2007; The AIADA newsletter reported that Tata Motors, India’s largest four-wheel automaker, is planning to capitalize on the country’s expanding middle class by releasing the Rs One Lakh.
Its sticker price of about $2,500 would make it the world’s cheapest car.
According to MSNBC, India is an automaker’s paradise. Only eight Indians out of every thousand own a car, compared with about 750 per thousand in the U.S.
Hero Honda, the world’s largest two-wheel-vehicle maker, estimates that 30 million to 40 million people join India’s middle class annually.
“The potential for that car to sell in large numbers is huge,” says Manishi Raychaudhuri, a UBS analyst. “In India, the penetration of four-wheelers is very low. So naturally there’s some status attached to having a real car — it’s kind of a showpiece.”
Tata currently earns about 17 percent of its revenue from exports. Tata may eventually roll out the Rs One Lakh in other developing nations, but it has no North American ambitions.

After spending over $US500m recently to improve manufacturing flexibility at its Windsor assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, Chrysler on Tuesday celebrated the manufacturing launch of its redesigned 2008 Chrysler and Dodge minivan lines.
The Canadian plant will gain additional volume frm this year as it will build the right-hand-drive, diesel and other export versions of the new minivans. Previous models were assembled under contract by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria.
Chrysler pioneered the minivan in North America (Renault’s Espace arguably took the same honour here in Europe) about 24 years ago and has since built nearly 12m. The segment subsequently expanded greatly as rival Detroit automakers, followed by the Japanese and Koreans, fielded competitors but several automakers have subsequently abandoned the segment as it has fragmented and contracted somewhat with the more recent arrival of SUV-like ‘crossovers’.
Chrysler is claiming an industry first for its latest minivan models - the ‘Swivel ‘n Go’ seating system and a removeable centre console table.

Worst drivers identified! And… No. It’s not woman drivers.
Britain’s biggest crash risks named by insurance company.
Chefs and hairdressers are the riskiest drivers and 18 per cent more likely to be involved in a collision than other motorists, according to new research.
A study by insurance specialist Diamond also found that those in the north-west of England are most at risk of having a crash. People who live in Scotland and drive either a Volvo or a Saab are least likely to have an accident.
