Ice….. Yea, It’s Cool.

So not to long ago( well its actually been a few months, but hey who’s counting?) I had recieved a box of the new Ice, by Turtle Wax. Turtle Wax is claming that Ice “is the only clear polish that wipes off in one easy step”. So to test the theory I decided to go out side and get my hands dirty and wash up my ride. Which in this case happens to be a lifted chevy truck. I washed and dried my truck and it looked pretty good.

Its about time i break out the Ice and see what this stuffs really made of. I decide to try out the liquid polish. It seems pretty easy to use. I put it on, rub it off… all that good stuff and my truck looks great. I actually didnt have my camera handy. I left it at the office unfortunatly. It did come out great though and I definitely recommend this product! So go out there and get your cars clean with Ice bye Turtle Wax!

Car Accidents & Seatbelts

Car Accidents & Seatbelts
Hyundai Elantra, crash, accident, seatbelt

One crazy weekend…

And this is how it began. I t all started Friday night when a few friends of mine talked me into driving out to Arizona to visit for the weekend and go to a concert there. I really didn,t take much convincing now that I think about it but non the less, convince me is what they did.  So i went to be early to prepare for the 5 PI  hour drive that awaited me the morning that followed. 4:00 AM rolls around and I finally head out on my quest for Arizona. I hope in my little Hyundai Elantra, to save me gas rather than driving a V8 Silverado with mud tires, And head on my merry way. Nothing but me, My car, and my Ipod on the open road. Well I am now about 3 hours into my drive and the sun is starting to come up, Its peaking over the mountain and shining in my eyes. I suddenly see something in the road and swerve to miss what ever it may be and my tires run over some dirt on the shoulder area. I try to correct it and pull it back onto the highway, but I over correct and lose control. My car spins out across the highway and I roll off the side. Not once, twice or three times but four times! I can still hear the sounds around me, I tell ya, that was one heck of a ride. Once I finally stop rolling I realize I landed topside which is a good thing but I see the engine smoking. I unhook my seatbelt and climb out the driver side window. I take one look at the car and realize I shouldn,t have been able to climb out. I check myself for scratches and I find one on my left arm that looks more like a carpet burn. Luckily a couple truck drivers stopped and made sure everything was fine, thank God they did, my cell phone was thrown from the car during one of my acrobatic rolls. Well after all the police reports, insurance claims and towing expenses I finally got to go home and rest. The moral of this story is always wear your seatbelt. I usually am partial to it, I am not one to always put it on, weather I,m a passenger or the driver. I know it,s annoying to hear at time and it gets in the way. But I do have to say, the seatbelt is what saved my life. So buckle up out there and be safe.

Battery Change

Battery Change
chevy

So what if its not a vintage pickup..

but it makes for one good story anyways. Well i have my 2002 Chevy Silverado sitting in the driveway, its been there for a few weeks since gas prices out here are pretty much unbearable. I can’t even fill my truck up for under $75. Well anyways im getting off topic… I go out to start my truck and nothing happens… I hear a click and thats about it. I tried this nifty battery charger I have laying around. I try again and still nothing. I came to the conclusion that i need a new battery… This is where it gets interesting. I have never had to replace the battery in a car before so I was in for a treat. I dissconnected everything and took the battery out which didn’t seem so hard at all, I loaded up my other car and headed to the local auto parts store. When i set the battery on the counter it started leaking everywhere and it got on my shirt which was not very fun. After an hour of waiting for the guys to find what I needed I finally got started on my way home. Upon my arrival I had to of course greet the family and the dogs(They won’t leave me alont otherwise) so i could finally get to business. I started connecting everything in the right order, red to red, black to black and so on and so fourth til’ finally it was the moment of truth. I jumped up into the monster and she started up with no problems. I was proud of myself. I had just changed my car battery for the first time with no troubles.

Vintage Truck Respect

Vintage Truck Respect

Feel Free To Join In

There seems to be the on going discussion about vintage truck brands and the respect each receives in print, or in general for that matter.

I myself, find it hard knock any said brand. If a truck is done right, (whatever that means) looks cool and drives good, then it’s a home run. Like the saying goes ? “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I can walk through a show and see some unique builds of all brands and there are certainly things about some trucks I like and some I don?t care for. It?s all in the taste of the builder or owner.

Yes, I know its fun to be part of one team, but I can also take some cool aspects of any truck done “rat rod style”, traditional, slammed with biggies or what have you.

With all that being said, I”m still not down with Donks.

Nick

Truck Accident Investigation

An 18 wheeler trucking accident investigation is always necessary to ensure that you have your facts straight, and that you build a strong case against all of the potential people who caused your injuries. This can include the truck driver, the owner of the tractor, the company leasing the tractor, the owner of the trailer, the person who loaded the trailer, the company that manufactured your tires, or any person or organization whose actions or products resulted in the accident.

What makes it even more crucial for you to pursue your own 18 wheeler trucking accident investigation is that the trucking company and other players in the accident will almost certainly be conducting one of their own. Should the case go to trial, not only will they have all the evidence they need to defend themselves, they may even be covering up other evidence as they go.

There are recorded cases where companies have legally obtained evidence and destroyed it so that the victim could not use it against them. For example someone can easily go to the wrecking yard and buy the remains of your car, which may contain crucial clues that would lead to a verdict in your favor. In this case, a temporary restraining order would protect key pieces of evidence like this.

Woodward Dream Cruise 2007: Chevrolet

Filed under: Convertibles, Coupes, Economy, Hybrids/Alternative, Commercial Trucks, Crossovers/CUVs, Hatchbacks, Chevrolet, Misc. Auto Shows

Click the Astro II for a high res gallery of the Chevys at Woodward

Chevrolet has one of the largest displays at the 2007 Woodward Dream Cruise in a prominent spot at the north end of Woodward in Birmingham. They brought the usual array of Nascar machines, a Cobalt badged funny car, a LeMans winning C6R Vette, and of course plenty of HHRs and street Corvettes of all vintages. The Chevy Volt world tour also made a stop here with the Volt sitting under a tent next to the Camaro Convertible concept. Overlooking the whole Chevy display was a giant poster of the Volt plugged into the side of a nearby high-rise.

There was a wide variety of vehicles from GM employees in addition to a selection from the GM Heritage Center that we profiled a few months back. In the middle of it all was the Astro II concept from the mid ’60s. The Astro II was one of the early experimental mid-engine Corvettes that, as we all know, never came to fruitition. A pair of 1957 Chevys sat on top of towers at one end while several more were on the ground.

Check them all out and more in the gallery below.
