For a better part of the last decade, California and its stringent emissions requirements have prevented automakers from introducing new diesel models. The new E320 BLUETEC, a model named the ‘2007 World Green Car,’ effectively changes all that. Available immediately, the E320 BLUETEC is being offered in limited numbers to California residents through a special two-year/24,000 mile lease program, with pricing comparable to that of its gas-powered E350 counterpart. This marks the first step of Mercedes-Benz USA’s plans to offer consumers a diesel alternative in all fifty states, with the M-, GL- and R-Class all set to enter a fifty-state market late next year.
